Today was The Food Project's day, and we traveled the two hours from South Main Community College to where RIC began in 1999, the Lincoln Farm in Lincoln, Massachusetts. According to Doron Comerchero, who was there at the time, some TFP youth returned from an ACGA conference wondering about youth programming. To address this question, TFP and ACGA created Rooted in Community and held the first national conference. So today was a bit nostalgic, as we returned to the field where it all began to start out second decade of youth and adults working together to acheive food justice.

TFP youth interns and staff conducted an outstanding workshop on diversity through personal stories. Then the groups headed for Thoreau's Walden Pond for a swim.
In the evening TFP folks presented RIC participants with a marvelous meal of local foods, from roasted potatoes to collard greens to grilled chicken, followed by carrot cake made from TFP's own carrots from the Lincoln Farm.
After dinner folks danced and did some spoken word, followed by more dancing. We then headed back to the buses for the long ride home to South Maine Community College.
